Asia Trip: Day 53 - Koh Samui => Koh Phangan (3/8/19)
Daily Highlights:
I needed to get off of Koh Samui
It was way too hectic and didn’t have any volunteer/ work opportunities
I asked around and heard there were more on a neighboring island called Koh Phangan so that’s where I’m going.
I took the 10:00am ferry to Koh Phangan
KOH PHANGAN FEELS LIKE AN ACTUAL ISLAND AND IS BEAUTIFUL
I took an air conditioned bus to my hostel
The hostel was kind of dead and everyone who worked there was a bit fat, douchy, and just loved to get fucked up (overall vibe: 2 stars)
BUT they had a gym and i did upper body and felt great
I went to 7-11 and got:
Egg in a Hole
Sucks. Microwaving bread just sucks and the egg was a hard boiled egg in the middle of soggy toast.
Regular Ham and Cheese
ALWAYS BOMB
Pork Bao
Actually very delicious, they come in packs of four and really fills you up.
I successfully avoided people at the hostel to go to bed early. I also messaged about twenty people on workaway for places to volunteer on the island, so we will see what happens. I also looked up every hostel on the island, sorted them by rating (only included those above 8.5) and plotted them out on a map to bang on doors tomorrow.
Asia Trip: Day 54 - Koh Phangan (3/9/19)
Daily Highlights:
Woke up at 9am and rented a scooter to explore island and bang on doors
I spent six hours knocking on hostel doors to find a place to volunteer
I went to twenty hostels asking for a job and lucky number nineteen said they were looking for people
I got denied by eighteen hostels (in a row), but was still stoked
I’m spending the next month or so in a place called Shenanigans hostel
I move in the next day
