Asia Trip: Day 168 - Chengdu 成都 => Xi’an 西安 （6/30/19）
Daily Highlights:
Woke up at 6:15am and took the bullet train to Xi’an
ARRIVED IN XI’AN
Got the hostel and met some awesome people
Sarah - German girl, Jim - Chinese/ Malay guy, and Sem - Dutch guy
I TRIED A SAUNA FOR THE FIRST TIME
It was v cool and felt great
We played codenames - which is a card games where you try to link words
It was awesome and our team won hehe
Asia Trip: Day 169 - Xi’an 西安 (7/1/19)
Daily Highlights:
Woke up early to hop on the brekkie buffet
Walked around the Muslim market for a few hours
Took pictures, talked with people, and perused the goods
Talked with one of the workers from the hostel 在中文 and she was v surprised and happy
TOOK A FOUR HOUR NAP
Woke up watched YouTube videos and waited to meet up with Frank
FINALLY MET UP WITH FRANK - who I stayed with in high school in China for two months
It was wild! I haven’t seen him or really talked with him in a decade. He’s changed but he’s still the same.
I was very sad to learn his mom died of stomach cancer five years ago, his Grandma lives with him now, and he’s trying to get a programming job in the US
We walked around for a bit and then went to go get food
We went to a seafood place, ordered a meal for 8-10 people just for us full of shrimp and veggies and other goodies to put in the hotpot
We also got beer and baijiu
We went to the park and chilled for a bit
We saw the new Spider man movie in 3D
Parted ways at 11:45pm
Asia Trip: Day 170 - Xi’an 西安 (7/2/19)
Daily Highlights:
Woke up early and got western brekkie
Got roped into going to Mount Huashan
SPENT SO MUCH MONEY
Rode the cable car and was way better then in Zhangjiajie
Had a good day with everyone from the trip
Came back and promptly passed out
Asia Trip: Day 171 - Xi’an 西安 (7/3/19)
Daily Highlights:
Woke up and had a western brekkie
The house keepers put my shoes outside because the smelled so bad lol
Jumped rope and met Frank at an internet cafe
THIS PLACE IS WILD
It has about seventy five people in this place during a weekday, all gaming in big plush arm chairs with huge screens and a food and hot towel service
We walked, chatted and saw Spirited Away in theaters
The movie was in Japanese and had Chinese subtitles haha
We got Korean BBQ - BOMB
We said goodbye to each other and to keep in touch
It meant a lot to connect with him
